tom hare . . .

" the tree of wisdom"
built by visual artist
for the Royal Horticultural Society
and their chelsea flower show garden.
folk could write messages on leaves
that were then attached to the tree,
encouraging life into the garden.

What a whimsical and beautiful creation “The Tree of Wisdom” is. I was immediately attracted to the image posted on the blog, and can only imagine the sense of life it must give when viewed in person. Trees possess that intimate grandeur of the laws of seed time and harvest. The ability to see a large tree standing before us and know that it came from a small seed is miraculous. To know that a tree is a symbol of life and the cycles of life as we know it. I found the tree filled with whimsy and charm, and was even a bit reassuring. It, in a sense, gave me hope for the direction art is taking in these unprecedented times, for the use of nature as an artist’s source of inspiration . The fact that visitors were allowed to leave messages on the leaves just adds to the process of having a responsibility to keep life in motion.
